Meet Your Midwives
Meet Your Midwives
We are Caroline and Rachel, the co-owners of Wildflower Midwifery & Fertility. We designed our practice with a team approach, meaning we share all clients, alternate attending your prenatal visits, and both attend your birth. This ensures you get to know us equally and receive consistent care throughout your entire journey.
Caroline Sausler (she/her), LM, CPM
My path to becoming a midwife began unexpectedly during a college anthropology course, when my passion was sparked by a documentary about a homebirth practice in New York City. I couldn’t believe that someone could have a job that interesting! After attending a few births as a doula, I was hooked, and knew that birth work was going to be a part of my life.
For me, midwifery offers the perfect balance of clinical skills and deep emotional connection.
I’m originally from Maryland and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from New York University. After graduating, I moved to Seattle, fell in love with the region, and now call the Pacific Northwest my home. I earned my midwifery degree from Birthwise Midwifery School, in Maine. I was fortunate to apprentice with seven different practices, including Northshore Midwives here in Woodinville, which gave me wide-ranging exposure to diverse practice styles and philosophies.
I have a special interest in preconception care, an area of focus I developed during a preceptorship with Liam Kali at Maia Midwifery. I learned how to counsel clients on optimizing their health and on the best timing for conception.
It is one of my passions to help people become their most healthy selves before they even become pregnant...
...laying a strong foundation for a healthy pregnancy and future family.
I consider it a true honor to work with every pregnant person and their family. My priority as a midwife is to ensure you receive evidence-based information so you can make confident, informed choices about your healthcare.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand firsthand where gaps exist in the healthcare system.
I am fiercely passionate about creating a safe, affirming space where every client feels heard, respected, and empowered.
When I'm not focused on birth work, you can find me diving into a good book, watching The Great British Baking Show, or heading out for a hike with my partner, Chris, and our dog Shelby.
Rachel Wright (she/her) LM, CPM, MSM, BSN
My path towards midwifery started at an early age. Home birth was the norm in my family and when I was little and my twin and I played house, I would always want to act out birth- which I've since learned is not always a part of the game!
I have always been drawn to caring for others and have held a deep trust in the body’s innate ability to heal and be well.
Before entering the beautiful world of birth work, I spent several years in caregiving roles-from working in a family-owned chiropractic office to supporting individuals with dementia and on hospice. Both of these opportunities reaffirmed my love for caring for others and taught me that relationship-based, individualized care truly provides better outcomes because you are able to see and take care of the whole person.
Originally from California, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from California Polytechnic State University and love implementing this knowledge base into midwifery care. After moving to the Pacific Northwest for midwifery school, I apprenticed with many incredible midwives—including Andrea and Sadie at Northshore Midwives—whose mentorship helped shape my own grounded, compassionate practice style. I went on to earn my Master of Science in Midwifery from Bastyr University, with an emphasis on herbal medicine.
I use herbs daily in my own life and am passionate about helping clients safely and confidently incorporate plant medicine into pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I’m committed to providing inclusive, affirming care to all of our pregnant clients and their families. When I’m not at a birth, you’ll find me hiking, camping, reading in my hammock, at a hot yoga class, developing my green thumb, or watching Survivor with my cats Winston and Wally.
A Tribute to Northshore Midwives
We want to thank Andrea Henderson for her years of mentorship and dedication to the midwifery community. As the founder of Northshore Midwives & Lactation Consulting, Andrea provided expert, evidence-based care to our community and served as a mentor to both of us. Having completed our preceptorships under Andrea and Sadie, we are proud to carry forward their heart-centered approach.
While Northshore no longer provides midwifery care, Andrea continues to offer exceptional lactation consulting services. You can explore her prenatal and postpartum lactation support at northshoremidwives.com. We continue to maintain a close friendship with them, and you’ll see them around, as we happily share clinic space!
